Advice

May16

Going to a new school can be nerve racking. New school, new teachers, new people! It’s so much pressure. But there are so many superior things that are just waiting for you when you arrive. The two pieces of advice that I have for the incoming 6th graders is to bring all of your supplies to class, and always be on time.
One thing, that you will need to know for next year is bring supplies to class. There are only a few things you will need for each class. It is easy to keep up with your supplies but we all have those days when we just forget. And sometimes we don’t know what we are supposed to bring. One time, I forgot my whole binder in my locker for band, that carries all my music! But I’m kind of glad that I forgot my binder, because I have never forgot any more supplies after that. You get into trouble if you forget your supplies, but that only helps you remember for next time.
Another thing that you will need to know for next year is to always be to class on time. Once, I was getting a drink of water and the bell rang, I was freaking out! I knew that I was in trouble because I had to walk all the way to band. But fortunately I got lucky and people were still putting their instruments together. But you won’t always get that lucky. I would have been in big trouble if I had been any later. Always be to class on time because you don’t want to get behind in school work or get in trouble.
But I know that it’s not that hard. You’re getting this advice from previous 6th grader who has gone through their first year of middle school and knows all of the consequences and the troubles that an everyday middle school student faces. I can’t wait to see all of you next year! Good luck on your first year of middle school! Just as one said, ” New school year, New friends, New memories. Let the unexpected be expected.”

Invasive Species

April18
Have you ever picked up a shell? Maybe even a plant? What about that one time you picked up flowers and brought them into your own home. Did you ever think that is one of East Texas biggest problems right there, in your hand! In the article Hello Zebra Mussels Good By Texas Lakes, they quoted, “Bringing invasive species to another lake can cost you up to, two thousand dollars and one hundred eighty day in jail.” That is how big of a threat invasive species are to our waters. Cleaning your boat and breading native species are two ways that will ensure aquatic plants to have a positive outcome in East Texas ecosystems.
Here are some words that might be necessary to know that in in essay. The first word is aquatic. Aquatic means anything that is growing or living in the water. The next word is exotic. Exotic means nonnative to the area. They’re many problems that just one of these species can cause. ” Invasive species blanket water ways and block boating, fishing and many swimming areas. They crowed our native species habitats, spoil rivers, and lakes, clog power plants, and multiple water pipes.” They have also endangered and made some of our plants and animals extinct. They’re many herbicides to kill the invaders, but some can hurt the environment, killing some of our native plants. There are also many people putting up fences to stop the invasive species from spreading, but it’s not working! Invasive species can grow over the fences in just a month.
One solution to prevent invasive species is to simply clean your boat. Just imagine if everyone that had a boat cleaned it. You would see a big difference! ” Thick mats of plants can impede water flow, and boat traffic. They can clog water flow intakes for water power plants, increase water loss for reservoir’s, and lower dissolved oxygen levels by shading other plants and reducing photosynthesis.” Don’t you want all that to go away? All you have to do is simply clean your boat.
Another, solution is breading native species that eat invasive species. ( Please leave this up to the professionals.) One example of this is a Bubleheaded Duck. This duck eats Zebra Mussles. In the article Protect Our Waters they said, ” We are breading native species that eat invasive species.” But there is more than just ducks, scientist have found multiple fish too.
Cleaning your boat and breading native species are two solutions that guarantee aquatic plants to have a positive outcome on East Texas waters. But we can do more! And we need your help! The next time you go to a lake, look at the lake and think about what it could be. The next time you pick up a plant say, ” That plant is ruining our waters and we need to find ways to stop it.”

Support Can Be Powerful

March23

Bravery, confidence, and strength are important. However, support is very powerful. In the book I am Malala, Malala got support from people all over the world.Their support was very cogent and gave Malala tons of confidence.Malala had support from people all over the world. People’s support can be very powerful because it can give you courage and make you strong. Here are some ways it can give you courage and make you strong.

It can give you courage by, the words of the people. Words can be very compelling. Malala had many celebrities post things on their social media. “Your bravery and perseverance has touched the world. You are the true meaning of survivor. My love and respect, Beyonce.” But it wasn’t just celebrities. It was friends and family too. Malala‘s dad was very supportive and helped her accomplish what gave girls all over the world an education today. That was the way it can give you courage.

Notably, it can make you strong by, the actions of the people. Dr. Fiona was very affectionate towards Malala. “A lady walked in. Her name was Dr. Fiona Reynolds. She spoke to me as if we were old friends. She handed me a green teddy bear (which I thought was an odd color for it) and a pink note book. That was the way it can make you strong. Malala had support from people all over the world. Those were the ways that support can be powerful.

Bravery, confidence, and strength are important. However, support can be very powerful weather you use it in words or you show it through your actions. “There it was in black and white, a death threat against me. I think I had known this moment might come someday; now here it was. I thought back to the mornings in 2009, when school first reopened and I had to walk to school with books hidden under my scarf. I was so nervous in those days. But I had changed since then.” When people give you support you tend to get more strong, courageous, and happy. Support might be a little word but it has a very strong meaning.

Malala Gets Her Voice Heard

February14

 Malala Gets Her Voice Heard

Malala made her voice heard by her blog. She also said many encouraging speeches. Her dad played a big role in encouraging her with her speeches, and her blog. She spoke out, and said what she believed.

For example, She was very brave, because no matter what the Taliban told her whether it be on her blog or in person, she kept fighting. “ Go ahead, shoot her- and I was as calm as could be.”

Not to mention, all of the powerful speeches she has given, and still gives today. “ But, I told the audience, the girls of Swat were and are not afraid of anyone.”

With regards to, that is how Malala said what she believed, and how she stood up for not only her education, but for girls all around the world.

One Girl One Mission

February2

Education is so important to Malala because, she grew up all around education. Education is just a piece of her. Plus she also wants to prove the Taliban wrong. That there is more to women than just cooking and cleaning.  To start with,Malala thinks that it is sad to see a grown women, like her mother who can’t read. “Even my own mother who’d grown up in a village couldn’t read. Not to mention, Malala thinks that the Taliban is wrong. That there is more to women then just doing things around the house. “Somehow I could ignore the Taliban.” There were my reasons why education is so important to Malala, and how she doesn’t like the way the Taliban feels about girls education.

Communicating

January11

Technology is very fun and can entertain you in many ways. Although it is not secure to be on your phone all the time. Despite some superficial similarities the differences between communicating through technology and communicating in person are clear.

Here are some similarities between communicating in person and communicating with technology. Both ways a person is talking weather spoken or written. It is important to get your point across in the way intended to because you don’t want to hurt their feelings if. You can learn something new through technology and in person. You can learn something online through technology,or in a text book in person. Those were some similarities between communicating in technology and in person.
Here are some differences between communicating with technology and communicating in person. Facial gestures help you express your idea more clearly. While in technology they might get your idea in the right way. This one time me and my friend were goofing off with emojis and i sent the angry one and she got the wrong idea. So the next day at school I told her I was trying to be funny. Another thing I have trouble with is my spelling. Sometimes when you text that silly auto-correct changes the word on you. But in person there is no auto-correct so you can spell what you need without a misunderstanding. I still remember this one time I was texting my dad,and I was telling him what happened at school that day and I was spelling a name and auto correct changed the way I spelt the name so h had no idea what I was talking about. When I got home I had to explain everything.
Technology is fun and entertaining, but it is not safe to be on your phone all of the time.My doctor even quoted that “It’s not safe to be on your phone all the time because, it will take longer for you to fall asleep because, your brain will still be going. Even if you just call someone. In your head your brain will be thinking, humm what should I do tomorrow for lunch my friend said she is bringing a sandwhich so maybe i should to.”  So I decided that I would limit myself like, don’t play on my phone at all after I eat. And when you are on a road trip bring a book or a fun card game. As I conclude my essay I want you to think about how much you’re on your phone and, what can you do to help yourself entertain you when you’re not on my phone.

Gun Range

January5

 Gun Range

As I walk in,

I hear this big bang!

It ecos through my mind.

Bullet shells flying everywhere.

Gold,silver they’re all so shiny.

They light up as I walk past them.

All of a sudden you hear a big bang

You jump then stop in you tracks.

You’re a statue.

My dad finally takes hand and takes me to the lane.

There is a target bigger than me.

That move up and down in the lane with a push of a button.

My dad slowly pulls out an AR.

WOW, it’s glorious!

Shiny black and smooth.

He takes a couple shots,

Then turns around and hands me the gun.

My eyes got huge!

This is it it’s finally my turn.

I step into the range my arms shakey.

I position myself look at the target.

As I studied  the target I noticed the big target laughin at me.

Na na na boo boo you can’t get me!

This made me livid.

I position myself one last time, look at the target and shoot.

It was amazing all my stress gone.

I will never forget my first time at the gun range.
